it's a rare thing to step into the extraordinary lightness of wanting nothing.  despite having more physical resources in my 380-square-foot efficiency than any of my ancestors had accumulated since the dawn of humanity, the number of times i could claim to be totally satisfied with the sum total of my possessions was alarmingly few.  desire was an insatiable beast.  yet by eliminating the possibility of new acquisitions from the outset, i'd moved into a surprising state of satisfaction with the basics;  food and shelter shared with someone one who made my heart beat a little faster.  ~no baggage by clara bensen

I chose No Baggage from the New Books shelf at my local library last week. It's a fun read. Interestingly it has a different cover in the UK.
Peter Doran sang that very same song at The Minimalists talk in London in 2014. I attended the talk but it didn't make me into a minimalist, I prefer the idea of being a simplist (but I'm not there yet).
Bon week-end!

oh- that's so fun that you got to see peter doran perform it! we saw the minimalists on their tour too- but no music. i love that- a "simplist"! that sounds like the title for me to aspire to too! :)

I always love your weekend reads. The first thing I did was put "No Baggage" on hold at the library. The picture of the "twins" reminded my of when I took my blond haired, blue eyed toddler son to get his haircut and he pointed to a dark haired, brown-eyed Hispanic boy and said "he's just like me." We're all the same. Love Denver's Zero Market! It's a gorgeous space, owned by passionate people. Happy Spring! xo
