sorting

julia and i took an afternoon to sort through her warm weather clothing this week.  thankfully, she said she didn't mind trying everything on.  :)  there were a lot of outgrown pieces, some that could get a makeover, and a few that still work as is.  julia told me what sort of outfits she would most like to wear in the coming season.  with a small pile of clothing that would still work, i set out to make a list of pieces to fill in the blanks.

you can see that julia's wardrobe has no shortage of prints.  while they are pretty, this can make it difficult to put together outfits.  i really would like julia's pieces to mix and match a bit more. so after picking up a few pieces, i had her try on outfits and noted which tops would go with which bottoms.  i have no problem making returns, so if any of the newly purchased pieces don't work, i'll return them.  after making my list, there were a few pieces left from previous years that just don't work well enough in this year's collection.  they are going to go.  previously, i would have held on to them because they fit.  now i just feel that they cause a drag on things.  when nothing matches them, they just never get worn.  hopefully they will be put to better use in someone else's closet.

as for the pieces that are going to find new homes, i sort them as well.  if i have any pieces that look new and are designer type pieces, i will list them once on ebay.  if they don't sell, they get donated along with the rest.  my goal is to get them rehomed and appreciated.  now if only my closet was so easy!
