-Good vibes only.
I get to choose who + what I follow. I do need to listen to + respect people with different points of view, but this is best done in person where kindness is the expectation + tone of voice is clear. I don't need to read posts that make me frustrated or angry. I don't need to engage in telling people that they are wrong.
-Follow people, not stuff (shops).
I want to live in the mindset of 'enough'. What I put into my mind can shift this mindset. I like instagram, but depending on what I'm scrolling I can start to feel anxious about a sale I'm missing or the travel I'm not doing or, or, or. Unfollow as needed. There is beauty in the quiet + ordinary. Choose my mind-food.
-Choose values over comparison.
There are a few places online that bring me back to my values + speak to my sense of beauty. Avoid the rest.
-Sprinkle in a few accounts/newsletters that inform + inspire thought + action
This account makes me pause, shifts my focus + puts everything in right perspective.
-Make passwords positive reminders
Every time I type in that password I will be reminded.
-Set time limits or block time.
An hour of mindless scrolling or surfing in the afternoon...after the homeschooling, chores, work, + exercise are done.
-Get away from the screen + into real living.
Make plans to explore a nearby town or walk with a friend in their neighborhood. Stitch while listening to a podcast. Sit with a drink from home, journal + pen while waiting for a loved one at practice or lessons. Talk about dreams + goals. Bake a cake + share it with a neighbor. Take a bath + stare out the window. Sit outside + feel the sun and wind on your skin. Read a book. Just be.
Love,
Jane
