a few years ago, while weeding, we found some onions growing around the side of our house. they were the most fragrant and tasty spring onions we've ever tasted. unfortunately, we didn't realize they were onions until they'd been completely pulled up, so they don't regrow each spring. last year, while on walks around our neighborhood, we found two places where onions grow wild and were able to forage them then and again this year.
i guess onions have been on my mind, because i tried to regrow some on my windowsill this week as well. the cup on the left holds a sprouted red onion core...while the cup on the right holds sprouted green onion bottoms. these greens grow incredibly quickly. this is what we have after only 3 days! i don't know why i never tried this before!
