old poetry

more traditional poetry does offer some beautiful and powerful words. while we might love the new poetry forms, we can also remember the wonderful poems of days gone past…

some of my personal favorites:
:robert frost's stopping by the woods on a snowy evening, relavation, the hill wife
:john keats' a song about myself, to a cat, on the grasshopper and the cricket
:emily dickinson's hope is the thing with feathers

are you reading or listening to any favorite poems to celebrate national poetry month? i'd love your recommendations!

nice post! This month I get to memorize a poem and recite it for my class. we're focusing on American poets and poems specifically from the 'poetry out loud' site. I did, however, find some great poems that I liked, from poets who were not American. A couple from my very long list are 'Entirely' by Louis MacNiece and 'Ode' by Arthur O'Shaughnessy. enjoy :)

cool! I hope you enjoy! there's some traditional as well as free verse, so there's a variety in writing styles. and thanks! i'll do my best :)
