still chipping away at my stash of scraps

this one made good use of leftovers from my jumpsuit

this one is a bit busy, but it employed the last bits of quite a few fabrics in my scrap pile- so exciting!

scraps and leftovers given a little time, love and creativity
these little projects are a great way to experiment...to have fun and just play.  my hope is to make useful objects out of my leftovers...and i hope these will cuddle, soothe and cushion a babe or two...and give a little bit of love to a mama who needs to know that someone cares.

love,
jane

so funny you mentioned this - i've been doing the same thing this month! it's almost more fun to craft using scraps...it forces your creative hand in interesting ways. yours are gorgeous! i've finished two scrap baby quilts lately and am itching to start a third. you don't live in chicago by any chance, do you? we could have a quilting bee :)

:) speaking of, do you have a binding tutorial you like? it looks like yours have bias cut binding, which is totally intimidating to me! but maybe next quilt it's a go? :)

i don't do bias binding. i just cut strips- not on the bias...piece them together into one long strip and sew them on pretty much like this: http://www.purlsoho.com/create/2015/06/08/sewing-on-double-fold-binding/ i'm not really too careful about it. i guess i'm not a perfectionist...more of a just-finish-it-ist. :)

oh- and for these, i didn't have wide enough strips to do it doubled. since the fabric is thick (not like voile or liberty of london weight), i think it will hold up just fine.

oh, that looks way easier! i'd never heard of that method...but i'm in to it. will try it next time - thank you for sharing! (i'm a justfinishit ist too :)

What pretty scraps you have to work with! I did the same a few years ago, making a handful of baby quilts from my stash. Now I raid my mom's stash when I want to make something new. Love your beautiful quilts!

thank you! it must be fun to work with someone else's scraps, because they are all new that way! :)
