lots of gift guides are posted in the weeks leading up to christmas, when we are thinking about giving. i thought i'd write this one from the perspective of receiving. this might sound selfish, but i just want to give a testimonial to the positive effects of these suggestions! i had a birthday recently, and at one point jo said something like, "well, what are you supposed to get for someone who doesn't like stuff?" she and all my special people did so well in the face of such adverse conditions, so i thought i'd share how they pulled off such feats of creativity and love! :)
--cards have become my favorite-really! handmade or independent makers' are amazing…but it's what's inside that makes these the best!! words from the heart…melt mine!

--favorite treat indulgences…yum! i didn't even take a picture of the macaroons i received- so pretty and delicious and gone! :) chocolate, bulk candy…yes, please!
--donuts on the go... that i didn't pay for…make mine a boston creme!
--a candle she knows i love…days of bliss!
--print magazines that i don't often allow myself. turning actual pages of inspiration and beauty…love!
--something i've been wanting and know i will wear and wear…a new addition to my simple wardrobe. perfect!
--not pictured, but appreciated immensely…a package from my sister containing a "tropical vacation"! card and packages wrapped and labelled with aspects of "our trip". a few consumables including, goldfish crackers (that arrived just as i was getting sick) with a label referencing our "excursion on a glass bottom boat". thoughtfulness that made me feel loved!
--another sweet card from a special girlfriend containing a sweet note and a little token of memories. warm fuzzies!
--a card from my mom and dad containing funny pictures from long ago. a good laugh is always a good gift!
--dinner out at my favorite restaurant! no cooking!
--an awesome macaroon cake! yum! :)
