jane:  the clothing i sew needs to look like clothing we would normally wear.  it sounds obvious, but sewing as a hobby can quickly morph into the desire to try each new pattern or fabric collection that comes out…and it can be quite difficult to find patterns and especially fabric that are everyday wear appropriate.  my sewing needs to fit with my simple wardrobe values, so i don't just want to be sewing things that just take up closet space.  i am happy that sewing fits with my fair trade values…for the most part.  there is still an issue with fabric origins.  as always, the less we own the better.

my favorite sewing patterns produce clothing we like to wear.  period.  grainline studio's scout tee is one i've sewn over and over…over the years.  it passes the everyday wear test with flying colors!  all of these tops were made from the same pattern, each with a modification or two.  the scout tee is a simple enough pattern for even quite a beginner to use.

all these tops belong to jo.  here's what she has to say about what must be one of her favorite top patterns:  love these tops! they go with everything, are work appropriate, and can look a hundred different ways depending on fabric choice and other options. so fun, a perfect t shirt!

gloomy, rainy day after gloomy, rainy day…in addition to the fact that these tops have been folded away for the winter and are full of wrinkles…have not produced the most photo friendly situation…but you get the idea.  :)

do you sew?

love,
jane + jo
