Each month I try to do a deep clean of the kitchen. This month as I went through the cabinets, I took a pondering look at each item before replacing it on the shelf. Half a bag of coconut left over from our favorite birthday cake became macaroons. The last can of pumpkin combined with the last of the cornmeal and some of last summer's frozen blueberries became a not so sweet cake. Some other bits and pieces got used up too + it made me happy to clear those spaces, but also to eat + serve some different treats.
